Van driver trapped following head-on crash with pick-up truck

KUCHING: A van driver had to be extricated from his vehicle by firefighters after he was trapped in the seat of his vehicle following a head-on collision with a pick-up truck.The incident occurred at Mile 15 Kuching-Serian Road around 8pm on Monday when the van driver, in his 20s, was on his way to Mongkos in Serian.According to witnesses, the collision happened after a pick-up truck, driven by a man in his 40s, went out of control and entered the opposite lane where it crashed into the van.The impact left the van driver pinned to his seat and he needed the assistance of firefighters, who were summoned to the scene by passing motorists, to extricate him from his predicament.He suffered light injuries in the incident and was sent to the Sarawak General Hospital together with three of his passengers and the pick-up truck driver, all of whom were slightly hurt.Traffic police personnel from Padawan district police headquarters were present to investigate the accident.
