Jaywalker dies after being run over by two cars

23 Sept 2014
KUALA LUMPUR: It was the middle of the night and the East-West Link Expressway in Taman Connaught appeared clear and a man decided to cross the road.
This despite the fact that there was an overhead bridge just a few metres away.
His jaywalking spelled disaster when two cars ran over him killing him on the spot.
A third car, which tried to avoid the accidents, crashed into a road divider in the 1.25am incident yesterday.
Police said the body of the man was so badly injured that he could not be identified.
Kuala Lumpur staff officer for traffic investigation and regulation Deputy Supt Markandan Subramaniam said the man ran onto the road so suddenly that the driver in a Perodua Myvi could not brake her car in time and crashed into him.
The impact flung the man onto the middle lane of the road and he was then run over by a Honda Accord. He was trapped under the car and was dragged for about 100m on the road.
“Then there was a Toyota Vios also travelling towards the spot in the middle lane. The driver swerved to avoid the accidents, but lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the highway road divider,” he said.
While the three car drivers reportedly escaped unhurt, the body of the man was taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem.
