Man Killed, 3 Injured After Vehicle Plunges Into Ravine

BELURAN: A man was killed and three other members of a family of seven were badly injured after a four-wheel-drive vehicle plunged into a ravine at Km48 of Jalan Beluran-Telupid early Tuesday, police said.

Beluran Police chief Supt Sivanathan Velautham said Diong Mohamad, 58, died on the spot in the accident which happened at about 2 am after the vehicle skidded to the right of the road and went down the 10-metre ravine.

He identified the injured as Musa Yasin, 62, Nazirah Jarib, 19 and Norainah Diong, 26.

The three other people, two of them children, were unhurt, he told Bernama.

Sivanathan said the family was returning to Kota Kinabalu after a holiday in Tawau.

The injured people had been admitted to the Beluran Hospital and their condition was reported to be stable, he said.
