Three Perish In Road Accident In Teluk Intan

TELUK INTAN : A woman and her two-year-old son, were among the three people who perished in a head-on collision involving two Kancil cars at Km 44 Jalan Teluk Intan-Sitiawan near here early Monday.

M. Pusparani, 40, succumbed to her injuries at the Teluk Intan Hospital, while her son, R. Sanjeet, and another victim, Mohd Amin Mat Yusof, 52, died at the scene.

Pusparani's husband, K. Ravi, 40, and their other son, R. Balachandderrao, five, as well as Mohd Amin's wife, Norkhaijan Tukiran, 43, were severely injured in the accident, while Mohd Amin's son, Muhammad Haziq, seven, escaped with minor injury.

Hilir Perak police chief ACP Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, when contacted, confirmed the incident, saying that Mohd Amin and his family were heading to Sitiawan from Teluk Intan when the mishap occurred at 12.05 am.

"The bodies of the victims were taken to the Teluk Intan Hospital for post mortem," he said, adding that further investigations were being done.
