The immune system is the most important system of the body when it comes to preventing diseases. We are all born with different levels of immune systems. Some have a stronger immune system than others. But there are many things that can weaken an adequately strong immune system.
Several factors like diet, lifestyle and emotional health, play an important role in maintaining a healthy immune system. However, problems with the immune system can lead to illnesses and infections. Your immune responses can be weakened by several external influences.

Stress is another way to damage the immune system. The stress hormone corticosteroid can suppress the effectiveness of the immune system. In fact, stress is linked to: headaches; infectious illness; cardiovascular disease; diabetes, flu, asthma and gastric ulcers.

Lack of sleep
Quality sleep is important for immune system health. Sleep range for adult usually 8 to 9 hours. Without sufficient sleep, the immune system doesn’t get a chance to rebuild and it becomes weak. Basically, when you sleep well, your body releases cytokines which one of your major fighter to fight infection.

Lack of exercise
Exercise will be difficult if you are not sustaining to do it. If you perform at least 20 minutes of walking five days a week for sure you could have better immune response towards infections. According to one research, inactive people took twice as many sick days in 4 months when compared to people who walked briskly almost every day.

Lack of hygiene
Lack of personal hygiene habits exposes your body towards infection. Bacteria and viruses are everywhere and they can attack humans immune system at anytime and anywhere. So, if you want to stay away from infections, basic things like wash your hand after using the toilet. Keeping hands clean is one of the most important steps we can take to avoid infection and spreading germs to others.

Cigarettes contain more than 4,000 chemicals, all of which are extremely toxic to the body. Besides it is also linked to a higher risk of autoimmune diseases. Did you know that smoking, or even second hand smoke, can weaken or damage your immune system?
