Penanganan DBD Tidak Tepat, Korban Terus Berjatuhan

Selama puluhan tahun, sejumlah penyakit yang ditularkan melalui nyamuk masih menjadi ancaman bagi masyarakat. Selain ribuan orang dirawat, korban jiwa juga terus berjatuhan. 

Kondisi ini mencerminkan pemerintah dan masyarakat masih mengabaikan pemberantasan nyamuk penyebar penyakit.

Sejumlah penyakit yang ditularkan vektor nyamuk dan banyak menelan korban jiwa, berdasarkan data yang dihimpun Kompas hingga Minggu (21/2), antara lain demam berdarah dengue (DBD), penyakit kaki gajah (filariasis), chikungunya, japanese encephalitis, dan malaria.


Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) mengategorikan filariasis, DBD, dan chikungunya sebagai penyakit tropis yang terabaikan.


"Masih adanya penyakit tersebut di Indonesia, bahkan banyak menelan korban jiwa, menunjukkan penanganan terhadap penyakit tersebut tidak tepat," kata konsultan penyakit tropis dan infeksi dari Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Indonesia (FKUI), Erni Juwita Nelwan.


Demam berdarah, misalnya, berdasarkan data Direktorat Jenderal Pencegahan dan Pengendalian Penyakit Kementerian Kesehatan, sejak ditemukan di Indonesia pada 1968, kematian akibat DBD selalu ada tiap tahun.


Jumlah kasus, kematian, dan incidence rate DBD tertinggi justru terjadi di era otonomi daerah. Kasus DBD terbanyak terjadi tahun 2009 dengan 158.915 kasus. Adapun angka kematian tertinggi DBD terjadi 2007, merengut 1.599 orang meninggal.

Januari 2016, sejumlah provinsi menyatakan kejadian luar biasa (KLB) DBD. Di Jawa Barat terdapat 2.980 kasus dan tertinggi di Kabupaten Bekasi.


Selain DBD, kasus filariasis klinis, yang pada 2002 tercatat ada 6.571 kasus, tahun 2014 justru naik menjadi 14.932 kasus. Ironisnya, ada 195 kabupaten atau kota endemis filariasis atau penyakit yang tergolong "purba" ini, tetapi pemberian obat pencegahan massal baru dimulai pada Oktober 2015.

Sementara malaria yang diukur dengan annual parasite incidence turun dari 2,47 tahun 2008 menjadi 1,38 tahun 2013. "Kalau pencegahan dan pengendalian penyakit tepat, tak mungkin ada kasus," ujar Erni.
